fischerspooner, guitar hero and the f35
I've been discovering new things.

Fischerspooner is a group that itunes took it upon itself to recommend to me based on my prior music purchases and it's assessment of what passes for musical entertainment on my trusty ipod.

I'm not educated when it comes to music. I'm one of those ugly consumers who simply "knows what he likes" and uses that declaration to justify every purchase from Kanye West to the Charlie Daniels Band.

So if you check out Fischerspooner and you don't like their savvy blend of disco era beats and video game audio samples well... Don't blame me. I don't know what the Hell I'm talking about.

I played guitar hero for the first time at a friends house and what can I say? I'm hooked. This game managed to fulfill a fantasy I never even knew I had. It allowed me to rock out on a guitar. I played Foghat. And I freaking rocked it. Fingers dancing across the frets, guitar held vertical in order to truly rock out. Lighting bolts dancing across the strings as the crowd roared.

Now I'll admit, with the guitar peripheral it's a bit pricey... But if you love rhythm games, Hell even if you don't, give this game a try.

Lockheed Martin is gearing up for the first test flight of it's brand new F35 Joint Strike Fighter, and it's cool as Hell. If you haven't read or seen anything about this bird go here and read up on it. In particular check out the technology that drives this thing.

Who needs science fiction when there are machines like this already out there in the real world?

Well, that was my weekend... I lied about posting progress on my loader. I'm still not happy with the texture map. I'm gonna tweak it a bit more before I post it.

In the meantime check out this character concept sketch I added to the sketchbook page.

Later.

Hate on this...
A while ago, I made a decision.

I willingly started turning my back on the vast majority of my vices.

From late night television to caffeine, I've been dialing it all back.

It was difficult at first. But now the idea seems to have built up it's own momentum inside my head.

Instead of adding things to the cluttered pile inside my head, each day I try to take something away.

Not a new idea I know but I'll be damned if it doesn't work.

In my head these days I seem to be moving at a snail's pace, and yet, I've never been more productive.

I sleep at night, I'm up in the morning, I eat 3 square meals a day.

Isn't this supposed to be difficult? Isn't this what Americans are always wailing about?

Slow down for Petes sake.

Eat an apple. Do some push-ups. Enjoy the silence.

Here's where I think the trick is... You've gotta come at this whole healthy lifestyle thing with no goals in mind. If you try to change for shallow, vain or selfish reasons you'll fail. Don't think about losing weight or lowering your blood pressure. This isn't about looking good or impressing others. In fact, you'll probably always look pretty much the way you do now, except with more wrinkles as time goes by. If you're lucky that is...

Besides, health really isn't about how you look, it's about how you feel. I can honestly say I've never felt better, simply because I sleep more, stress on things less and don't put (as much) unhealthy food in my stomach.

Be warned though, when you start taking in less sugar and caffeine you'll need a lot more sleep during the first few weeks... And it'll wreak havoc on your mood.

The best thing to do is charge ahead and start supplementing your new eating habits with light exercise.

And, last but not least, don't tell anyone you're changing your diet or exercising. Most people will hate on you and actively try to discourage you.

And for the love of God don't write about it in your blog.

I'll post progress on my loader later this week.

Goodnight haters.

Revisions...
Sorry I haven't updated in a few weeks. I've been busy learning Macromedia Director...

Here's a new sketch for ya. Okay, it's not really all that new. I drew this a few months ago and never bothered to post it. But it's new to you right?

I've also added a step by step breakdown of my first illustration to the IN PROGRESS section. Regular visitors will also notice that I've changed the order in which the images in that section appear. I've done that so that each of my ongoing projects can have it's own row, within which, progress can be displayed in subsequent thumbnails.

My wife just came into my room and told me that the Steelers won the Super Bowl. I'm not a big sports fan... But I am happy for the team and the city. If you're a fan of that sort of thing, drink one for me allright?

P.S. I finally started texture mapping that front loader model. I'll post progress on it soon.
